Just as Apple announced its astounding fourth quarter earnings, which were greatly increased by iPhone sales, a number of anti-iPhone commercials from competitors have surfaced. These ads attempt to declare superiority over the iPhone as well as the AT&T network.
The increasing nature of these “attacks” may indicate something more than healthy competition. There have been many rumors that AT&T’s exclusivity may finally be ending in 2010. If this happens, Apple is expected to open up the iPhone to more carriers. If Apple was in fact in talks with other carriers, it seems very unlikely that companies responsible for the ads will be carrying the iPhone.
Many loyal customers don’t see these ads as being very effective, and have even created a spoof of the Droid commercial.
