iPhone Unavailable for Online Purchase in NYC

By: Angela Soric

If you’re a resident of NYC you may find that you’re having trouble purchasing the iPhone from AT&T’s website. On Monday, consumers using the Manhattan postal code were told that their product was unavailable when attempting to purchase the device online.

When contacted, AT&T reps stated that the company periodically modifies its promotions and distribution channels and that the iPhone is available throughout New York retail stores as well as partner stores.

As if AT&T hasn’t faced enough criticism in the past from customers, competitors and even the FCC regarding the quality of their network. This recent situation is stirring up questions about whether AT&T’s network can handle increasing iPhone traffic.

Many speculate that AT&T may be trying to reduce congestion on its network, especially during the holidays when more devices are purchased as gifts.
