There has recently been a lot of back and forth about whether or not Google is finally creating its own branded phone in an attempt to compete with the iPhone and other smart devices on the market.

According to Techcrunch, Google is devising a plan for a “super” Android device which will be thinner than existing Smartphones. Michael Arrington of Techcrunch said, according to speculation, the phone is likely being made by either Samsung or LG.

Market researchers such are Gartner are already predicting that the dominance of Apple’s popular handset could be toppled by Google’s Android mobile platform within three years.

However, following these rumors are many denials about Google’s hardware ambitions. Last month, Andy Rubin said the company was not in the business of making phones. “We’re not making hardware,” said, VP of engineering for Android. “We’re enabling other people to build hardware.”

Whether or not the buzz is in fact true, there is no doubt that a Google branded phone could significantly shake up the current mobile market.
