Google is providing free WiFi in 47 airports across the country from now until January 15. Google is using the promotion to encourage travelers to make charitable donations using Google Check Out. Google plans to match donations made to three non-profits via the WiFi network, up to a maximum of $250,000. You can still use the free WiFi service without a donation. The three lucky non-profits that will reap the benefits of the holiday promotion are:
Climate Savers Computing: a non-profit group of eco-conscious businesses, conservation organizations and consumers dedicated to reducing the energy consumption and environmental impact of computers and emerging technologies.
One Economy Corporation: a global non-profit organization that uses innovative approaches to deliver the power of technology and information to low-income people. One Economy has launched on-the-ground programs in 42 U.S. states, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
Engineers Without Borders USA: a nonprofit humanitarian organization established to support community-driven development programs worldwide through partnerships that design and implement sustainable engineering projects.
