So your company has finally decided to build a mobile app. Fantastic! But where do you go from here? Listed below are some helpful hints to ensure you build a better quality app.
Do Your Homework
Now that you have decided to develop an application, your first impulse might be to jump right in and build something. WRONG! Take your time and do some research. Your primary objective needs to be understanding the customer and how they will use your app.
How are you perceived in the market? Who is your target audience? Don’t just rush into developing an app, make sure you understand who will be using it and how you can provide them with the best possible mobile experience.
Focus on Quality, Usability and Functionality
Once you have done some preliminary research, you can start developing your app. At this point, focus on how you can create an engaging and useful application. Take advantage of the Smartphone’s advanced capabilities to offer a truly unique experience. However, this doesn’t mean you should over complicate your app, keep it simple.
Some of the best apps are simple and easy to use; they provide real value that keeps the consumer happy. Again, do not try to rush your application. Take your time to develop a quality app, which will reflect well on your brand name. Don’t tarnish your company’s reputation by offering an app that doesn’t work and was obviously thrown together in two days.
Don’t Forget To Market Your App
Your app is finished and ready for purchase. Don’t erase all of your hard work by just putting your product on the App Store and forgetting about it. With over 65,000 applications available for the iPhone alone, your app is going to need to be marketed properly so that the public will know it’s available to be downloaded.
One vastly overlooked source of promotion is blogging. There is a huge online community of app bloggers just waiting to try your product, so let them help you. Blogging and social media have really taken off over the last couple of years, why not take advantage of these free resources while promoting your amazing new app?
